Description:
On cue, dog will move into perfect heel position.
Elements:
- Behavior
specifics: Find heel position from any other position -- even
from a slightly crooked version of heel position. When I change my
position, he should change with me.
- Distance:
Dog will respond to cue to find heel position from up to 20 feet
away.
- Latency:
Immediate.
- Position:
Heel position described in the AKC regs.
- Locations:
Everywhere.
- Distractions:
Anything and everything. Especially distractions common in a dog
show or performance environment.
Training
Plan: (Accomplish each level in multiple locations of gradually
increasing distractions.)
- Dog maintains
eye contact through a counter-clockwise pivot.
- Shape finish.
- Perfect finish.
- Add cue to
finish.
- Reduce latency.
